Skills: DiplomatElidibus possesses the skills to navigate policy, act as an envoy and blend into various cultures and societies like a chameleon.
ManipulationElidibus is a master at manipulation and one that has been honed for over millennia. A whisper in the ear of a king or pope, weaving half-truths into convictions that would cause heroes to discard their lives for the salvation of their world.
CombatThough not one to turn to it as a first resort, Elidibus is no stranger to combat. Strong in both strategy and martial prowess, he would be able to hold his own on a battlefield and as leadership.
MentorElidibus has acted in the role of a mentor many times. He is a capable teacher, wise and experienced in advice and bringing out the best potential of those he has taken a role of educator.
AdvisorElidibus was recognized for being able to make rational, calm advice and decisions on matters of grave import. If he agrees to render judgment, one can be assured he will give an impartial and reasoned answer based on what is known.
Canon Abilities:The EchoA natural gift that permits the understanding (and to be understood by) all languages. The bearer is able to read the aether of an individual or a place for memories and experiences, manifesting as visions from the perspective of an observer or one who was witness to the moment. This will not allow him to find memories that have been hidden (for instance, he cannot find his own lost memories as they are clouded over, but he might go to a place and witness the events he experienced there).
Through this gift, those who die are able to linger longer than most in the afterlife. In the case of Elidibus, he ascend to an immortal (but still living) state. With this he was able to travel between the shards of his shattered world with ease and possess the bodies of individuals (both living and dead). Killing a physical body he inhabits will not end his life.
In his Ascian form, he is without a shadow and many people could not perceive him. On Folkmore, spirits, the Fox and anyone gifted with spirit sensing or some form of psychic 'vision' will probably be able to perceive him whether he wants to be or not. Elidibus can choose to be perceived.
The Echo can be used to foresee possible paths of the future but since it was ever-changing, it was difficult at best and a fool's errand at worst.
He has no intention of possessing other bodies. He has one! He may attempt to use spoons to purchase his original body (if this is possible) at some point. If body wearing ever comes up, it will only be done with the express permission of any players and mods involved. Any reading of memories or events will be done with involved player or mod consent.
Aether ManipulationAncients manipulate aether directly, weaving it into magic spells and martial abilities. Elidibus is an extremely capable sorcerer and quick learner of new methods. He is shown to be powerful enough to single handedly take control and buffer an entire layer of Pandaemonium's wards against a direct onslaught while still being able to assist with creation magicks and providing aether for sealing spells.
He is a capable fighter. While never explicitly shown fighting in his original form, Elidibus has taken on a variety of heroic roles and mentored others. He adapted to using the combat styles of Zenos, Ardbert (warrior) and the original Warrior of Light (Paladin+) with ease. Aether manipulation is used to enhance and buffer the body in tandem with enhancing offensive and defensive maneuvers. This is loosely the norm for many mortals on his world, though not to the precision and degree Ancients have.
Creation MagicksElidibus can potentially bring anything into being; objects, lifeforms and arcane constructs. An actual soul is not possible to create but a living creation is capable of attracting a soul if enough care is placed in its creation. All that is needed is enough aether and focus. These creations can be unwoven as well. Ancients can cooperate to create more complex or powerful designs and share their concepts between each other.
Anything created will be presumed to be soulless (basically an arcane construct) without direct mod approval.
TransformationElidibus can take on an advanced form. This transformation embodies the belief to break limits and achieve greater accomplishments suited for the task he wishes to undertake. In Pandaemonium and presumably in Ancient times,
Elidibus manifested as a giant four armed warrior in armor with a pair of feathered wings graduating between light and dark hues. He wielded a huge white and black armament between a spear and staff. His theme is trials of balance and judgment.
During the battle with the Warrior of Darkness during the events of Shadowbringers, Elidibus drew in heroic souls he summoned and took on the form of the First's ancient
Warrior of Light- a role he had originated by possessing a body centuries ago. This appears as an armored paladin with sword and shield and similar features to his original body's appearance. He fought by empowering his blade and casting spells, as well as calling on the souls of the various heroes for support. This form could arguably be a type of Primal manifestation, it has yet been made clear.
Transformations are done out of necessity and there is rarely any call for it even with extenuating circumstances. The conditions of the Warrior of Light would be similar to those he'd used at the time and unlikely to be achieved. His original transformation will be hindered by his amnesia though he may regain it one day.
PrimalThe creation of Zodiark needed many sacrifices. Elidibus was the first and served as core and anchor. When the survivors were torn by differing opinions on what to do next, he separated himself from Zodiark and attempted to bring reconciliation as Elidibus. Elidibus is tied to Zodiark. The ‘distance’ between Folkmore’s world and his own is sufficient that he cannot sense Zodiark. The connection isn’t severed; just dormant. People with appropriate means may be able to discern there’s something 'sleeping' in him.
Primals summoned by mortals in his world were done so through a flawed method taught by the Ascians. Dwelling in their presence was enough to cause mortals without the Echo to gradually fall in their thrall and the Primals could act to tip the scales even further. Since Zodiark was created with the correct method and Elidibus himself is more akin to a vessel, he does not cause this to happen.
On Folkmore, Elidibus is mostly stuck with the negative side effects. He suffers amnesia and retains only tattered fragments of the Unsundered world. He is fully aware of his condition and is uncertain just what he has become. On Folkmore if he were to gain memories back they would stick… so long as that connection remains dormant.
Soul SightMany Ancients possessed the ability see the flow of aether and the light of souls. Elidibus possesses a strong gift in this respect, allowing him to recognize individuals and to a degree track them. The clarity over sheer distance does not match Emet-Selch or Hythlodaeus, but he is shown capable of at least recognizing the presence of myriad souls in Pandemonium, from the heights of Elpis, though the facility was still out of sight. The ability to trace people in game will be wholly through the player's consent.
Role: Legend
Role Qualities/Attributes: He will have four dark feathered wings that seem to hold the stars within them and a double-rimmed, light purple halo that is offset to the back of his head rather than the top. The halo will be much more distinct in the darkness. They are modeled on similar traits to
this guy but scaled down and intact. He will also have mood changing eyes. Elidibus will be able to hide his wings but the best he can do for the halo is make it almost invisible during the day. Darkness will always make it a lot more visible.
He will be more vulnerable to emotions. His ability to remain rational and calm won't really change but when he
does feel anger or sadness, happiness or curiosity, it will all be very extra and impulsive.
He will sense when someone truly needs help, protection, guidance or aid. He does not need to help for the sake of helping, nor is he forced to help. But he will be drawn to aid those that really need it, often unawares. Malicious or selfish actions do not trigger this instinct.
As he is already nigh-immortal and powerful, he will not be getting any real 'perks' from being a Legend.
Role Reasoning: While an antagonist who has done a lot of Terrible Things for the sake of the world he was trying to save, Elidibus was (is?) at heart a very kind, passionate individual who is wholly invested in saving his people and healing the world. He has guided his kin and countless others. He has notably been heroes of worlds, a mentor, a diplomat and the literal embodiment of salvation. His role as a Legend is meant to convey this, the heightened emotional experiences meant to bring out what he often suppressed; his
personal feelings.
