Creation Magic And You (Not An Actual Shop Title)
[The original video post.
Later after the video post expires or is lost in a line of other posts, there will be notices tacked in convenient places where crafters generally place their notices. For the record yes, it says much the same thing as the video did. Just without voice and pictures. Also yes, he could write an advert form. He decided not to.]
For those of you who do not know me, I am Elidibus.
After some consideration, I've decided to offer the use a portion of the creation magicks of my kind to those interested. The wall clocks Tidus has placed in several carriages of the train are an example of what I can do. Two of the original sizes and design were much smaller and simpler. I can break down what you provide into aether and reshape it. Or with some effort, adjust its size, color and shape.
Provided materials and an object of what you desire to have created, I can also make duplicates. Repairing that which is broken is also in the realm of possibility. The complexity of any request will determine what time and materials I'll need and whether I'm able to assist you.
Be warned, if the color or element you wish to incorporate is something foreign to me, I must have an example of it provided. I will not work on living beasts or people. And to create something from naught but aether I provide is something I will only do for the sake of emergencies.
For those of you who already provide your crafting skills to the passengers, I do not wish to replace the services you already provide. But I may be able to compliment your efforts with specific types of material or color needed for your work.
If anyone has questions, pray reach out to me and I will answer them within reason. If you have a request, you may contact me either in person or through messages. The payment for this work will vary depending on the request and what it's intended for. Barter in the form of favors, trade of services and the use of your points for goods are all acceptable.
[IC questions can go under a heading located on this thread. Comms requests and personal visits also have their own segments! Please use this thread for this venture. The OOC questions and OOC post is here.]

nebula 16; what if tidus searched out elidibus the day before for services-
Whether it be the library, kitchen or standard coach, Tidus will call out to the other guy with a, "Oh, hey, Elidibus!"
Elidibus where are yoou.
Services are already part Tidus's fault no need to double down.
"Good afternoon. You seem in good spirits." While it isn't cheerfully offered it is a bit more small talk than Elidibus usually tacks on. Follow him to the sink Tidus because he needs to wash his hands and will indicate that the youth should follow him.
"Did you think of something more to add on what we discussed the other day?" You know about how people have tried contacting the train and all.
no subject
"Oh! Well, uh. Actually, did you try talking to it? It said something to me and Inigo - he's my roommate," he explains quickly, "--when we did. It told him it'll try finding where people go when they disappear? And it told me it's always listening."
He gives that latter detail a level of creep it deserves, an unimpressed look on Tidus's face.
N17
[Well, no question what Kiyoiri's showing up for, though it's late in the day, and also she could probably do a better job of coping. Elidibus probably saw the whole mess on the platform, but as it is.
She is holding the rifle.] ...I am wondering if it could be possible to create spell ammo for this matchlock rifle.
no subject
Inigo is his roommate? The name's familiar to Elidibus for more than the standard roster list reason. Well, what happens will happen and the story he's recently given to the youth in question will run its course.
"I haven't. Though it appears I should, if you mean to say you talked to it recently. By disappearances, I presume you're talking about something other than the departures on the platform day?" It sounds like it's something else but 'people disappearing' given the options is a pretty vague statement.
As far as the train watching goes, Tidus's theatrics are rewarded with a faint smile. "Yes, I presumed nothing is private from the train. We are conveniently shackled." Both inside the train's safety and by the SCAs of which he raises his arm to display briefly.
Location: Lab Area, Quiet Coach
Although the Ascian seems to be studying his surroundings thoughtfully, his attention shifts to Kiyoiri readily enough. At the very least her emotional state and their recent stint as comrades in arms have earned her that much regard. The rifle in question is given a once-over.
"I imagine it would be possible." Rifles and magic ammo are not foreign concepts to him. "Do you have any examples of the ammo it's been designed to use?"
This.... is asked in a gentle tone. He is indeed aware of the origins of the weapon now in Kiyoiri's possession.
no subject
"It was about the platform leaves. Inigo - he's not really sure what happens to people when they go. When the Q&A happened with the train, we asked it where people are when they disappear, when we're on the train? I don't remember the wording," he admits, "but it told us they aren't on the train. Which is weird, right? They're not on the train, but then we see them on the platform, just to watch them leave?"
It's one of those weird mysteries, not helped by the train's weird responses about it.
no subject
The answer Tidus offers is interesting for other reasons than its literal response. The Ascian's expression sharpens.
"It suggested the train does not have control over the departures?" Perhaps it was a matter of how the Voidtrecker Express worded it. "It seems I will need to attempt speaking to it very soon." And quite possibly after mealtime.
no subject
But...
It's not a line of thought Tidus has ever wanted to weigh too heavily on, for personal reasons. And even then, without anywhere to take the thought now, Tidus brings his hands close to one another, a golden colouring appearing in a rectangular shape between them.
"Anyway, I wanted to ask you about - clocks! And I got you something too!" A something that has now materialised as a paper brown bag, with a chunky book-like shape to it. "Check it out. Might be a fun?"
He tilts the package in Elidibus's direction, to be taken. And if Elidibus does so, and peels away the parcel paper to better look, it might seem odd.
...and the inside too.
no subject
The subject that Tidus approached him for today is then brought to bear. Clocks, yes. "Ah, did you order more?" There seems to be some expectation here and it's fairly receptive in nature. Odds are good if the young man wants him to work the new clocks to match the others, he'd probably be okay doing so.
But then the package that's a gift for him is drawn out and presented. The Ascian casts a curious glance at Tidus that borders on surprise this time. Mortals aren't generally in the position to give him gifts and the work he did on the clocks before had been free of any price; payment wasn't expected.
"Thank you," Elidibus says and accepts it before unwrapping. Curiousity and consideration follow as the journal is revealed. The cover studied and then the book opened to flip through the pages. One thing is certain there is no sign of disdain for it.
"This is... interesting." The hesitation doesn't appear to be from trying to find something nice to say. Instead as he shifts his attention back to Tidus to study the youth, it seems more a puzzlement. "Did you choose this yourself?"
While it might not come across, he's not trying to say it's surprising that Tidus managed to pick a good gift for someone. But having enough insight to pick something like this for Elidibus...
no subject
Really though, even if he reads uncertainty when the ascian is looking at the book, that's fine too. He's already ready to explain, but since Elidibus asks:
"A mix of me, a mix of the train? You were interested in that activity book, so I figured you'd be into something that'd get you thinking, and maybe distract you once in a while, so I asked the train for a book like that. You like to think-" and his eyes go to the book cover than on Elidibus, briefly.
"Don't know how good the questions are, but there might be a few gems in there."
no subject
no subject
Interest in the activity book might be a bold phrase for the reason Elidibus had obtained the coloring book on his own. But this is something different. The smile he gives to Tidus as his gaze raises to the youth might not be broad, but it is sincere and at least for the moment without the usual distance he seems to place between himself and almost any other.
"You've chosen something with due consideration of my preferences." Such as they are known and observable. "Yet what I'm grateful for is that you would put such thought into it. No payment was expected for the clocks before. Nor would I haven taken it now, if there are more you wish to adjust for the train's use. But for this gift, I offer my sincere thanks."
There's no fancy trick for him to tuck the book away in a personal hammerspace. Maybe a faint edge of blue glow before it disappears along with the item.
no subject
That sounds fair to offer, even if Elidibus was a guy who didn't want much for himself. But Tidus is pleased to see how touched the ascian looks over the gift. Glad he got it, and that it wasn't a bad pick, for how in-the-dark it is trying to specifically get anything from the train shop.
"As for the clocks - you want me to leave them with you? Since you don't have to carry." He nods his head, as if pointing where the disappearance into hammerspace took place. "I can pick them up whenever you're done. They're the same as the last ones."
One wall clock, two alarm clocks, and a pocket watch.
no subject
When the Ascian opens his eyes again, he looks carefully at Kiyoiri. "If you will allow, I'd like to have a closer look at your firearm." He doesn't move to reach for it preemptively. Elidibus damn well knows to wait for permission... and give Kiyoiri a moment to make that choice.
no subject
"I'll keep your offer in mind," the Ascian says politely and seems to mean it. Indeed right now he has nothing, but in the future he might.
"As for the clocks, I'll take them. Assuming you want the same as last time, I can have them back to you by the evening." As Tidus saw it didn't take long for the first clocks to be changed and that was including figuring out what to do. Right now it's just a matter of completing tasks he's already involved in.
"I've considered using my talent for more than just these clocks," Elidibus mentions during whatever exchange of items happens in the following moments. "The available aether to draw from while on the train is limited, but with materials to reduce and reform, it would be possible to make use of creation magicks to provide type of service."
no subject
Wondering only for a second if to take them out, he gestures to the suitcase instead, for Elidibus to disappear. But he does listen as Elidibus speaks, humming by the end of it.
"Oh yeah? That sounds like it'd be fun! I wonder what people'd ask for..." Did people have many things they wanted to change? So is where Tidus's mind goes, with the clocks and all. But he does wonder, after a pause: "You need any materials to get you going? Ohh, say, I know."
He clicks his fingers.
"Could you make poles and curtains? Or mirrors? If you had the...metals and mirrors."
Look, he'll explain in a second.
no subject
Which brings a pause following Tidus' inspiration-motivation inquiry.
"...Yes." Those alone would be easy enough just to create on his own aether but he's not going to add that. "Why?" He's studying you, Tidus. Please do explain.
no subject
"A while ago, someone wanted to add curtains to the quiet cars. Or a few? But not a lot of us can, you know, make a pole or get them and do the whole work for it." Tidus gestures, rather meaninglessly, in indication of a curtain rail. Brings his hands down as he continues.
"And, uhh... my friend. He likes to dance, but he's shy? But he'd really like a dance studio. 'Cept, I don't know how likely we're gonna get one for a long time... but, maybe if I made an order with you, we could work something out? Like a... big foladable mirror. For the music room?" Hmm- "Can you make glass that isn't heavy and easy to break?"
He never thought about any of this until this second...!
no subject
"No matter. They can be fashioned, though depending on the amount, I may ask for a favor in exchange. And it need not be just you who shoulders the burden." Elidibus gives Tidus a stern look as if it's clear from this conversation that the youth already seems to be taking on the lion's share of effort for the sake of others.
The mirror is probably another matter entirely. "I'm not certain why you would wish the mirror to be folded when it can be added to the music carriage," the Ascian points out. Who would mind it, really? "As to the durability, I believe it can be done." Whether with the creation itself or enchantment after.
But Elidibus doesn't miss the haphazard ideas being thrown out. "Perhaps you should think on the matter and find out precisely what you wish to have done. You can then present it to me when I return the clocks later this evening."
no subject
But it's plain to see how much Tidus is trying to think things as Elidibus brings up points - about what kind of mirror would be good (would a mirror set in the music carriage be better?), but also becoming sheepish from accusations of burdening.
Expressions that ease as Elidibus carries the braincells here, and suggest to give time for thought. Tidus nods in agreement.
"Alright! I'll ask my friend about the mirror too. Thanks - didn't mean to dump on you a bunch of work outta nowhere. I just started remembering stuff, and-"
He waves his hands close to his head, laughs, leaving it there. No need to repeat what just took place.
"I'll see you later."
Giving a cheery nod, if there's nothing else, now's the time to ollie on out!
no subject
"It's fine. I've grown oddly accustomed to your habits."
Look Tidus, that was almost a tease.
Elidibus will let the youth depart without further input. And when he seeks Tidus out later, the clocks will be prepared and match the rest already displayed on the train.
Though the Ascian will encourage Tidus to think more if he hasn't gotten a good idea.
[OOC: That is to say feel free to pick up another thread when you've got everything officially sorted through CR as to the request.]

"...Elidibus? I was hoping to negotiate a trade with you."
no subject
Elidibus is found in the standard coach this time and looks up from his reading. Then he nods to the seat opposite his.
"Tell me what it is you wish of me." The book, something on the subject of the void from the library, is closed and set aside.
no subject
"I'm getting married in two days' time. It's a small ceremony, we're only using one of the gyms for a few hours, and I wasn't planning on a fancy banquet. But I realize now the one thing I don't have is seating for my guests. My backup plan was asking the guests to bring pillows from their beds."
He has to laugh about how foolish that is, shaking his head.
"I'm an mechanic by trade, and I can pay in building and repair services. I'm just short on raw materials, though I'll be able to purchase some more at the next platform with some luck."
no subject
It is fairly simple to pass it over. As she does so, she explains- "It was charmed to come apart and together with a pass-phrase; it can be manually constructed as well, but if dismantling it faster helps, I can speak it."
no subject
"If it is only seating you need, there would be no difficulty with the arrangements," the man pauses to reflect momentarily. "The question would be what type of seating had you planned for the ceremony and how many would be attending."
No talk of cost, yet. 'Seating for a wedding' is quite vague by itself.
no subject
He thinks on this for a moment. "Would a few longer pieces of material for benches be simpler?"
no subject
"If you please, the phrase. I am curious." And besides if such charms are part of the weapon's makeup, it's best to see them in action so they are easier to replicate later. But more on that thought in a moment.
no subject
Extra, permanent benches for thirty people would probably be difficult to store anyway.
"As to the payment, it may be in the form of materials. But pray tell me, what do your skills as a mechanic cover?"
no subject
no subject
Look at that, he has his sleek black duel disk strapped to his arm! It looks like an odd piece of armor, but with the push of a button it lights up, and he places a card on it. A small hologram of his favorite silvery-blue dragon appears, flying in a circle and roaring.
"It's my form of illusion work. The one thing I can't work with is anything magical."
no subject
"That seems a risk if anyone with the knowledge of the phrase and able to touch the weapon is capable of uttering it," he remarks. Though there may be a reason for it and before saying anything else on the matter, he'll give the young girl a chance to answer.
His his focus on the disassembled weapon is on the component which is (at at least once was) meant to accept ammunition before Ayumi developed a talent for using her own magic with the weapon. Whether it is simply an empty chamber or has a 'permanent' piece meant to hold the magic charge channeled into it, Elidibus studies it carefully.
"You aren't against modifications to the rifle, I presume?" It may have been expected that he'd need to adjust the weapon as well as create the ammo.
no subject
"If you provide the materials, I will create the seating. And if it's borrowed I will then return it to its original state," Elidibus offers. "As to the payment, I would like to negotiate it with you at a later date. I will have a better idea of what materials I may need to have on hand for you to order as trade. Would this arrangement be acceptable?"
no subject
no subject
And to prevent someone from grabbing it effectively disarming the person by using the passphrase to dismantle it. Call Elidibus a worst-case scenario planner.
"...When you say harm, do you mean the prevention or the ammunition? And if it's the latter, I am curious about your reasoning."
no subject
Kiyoiri blinks however, and clarifies. "...The most important thing to Ayumi...and also to me, for the rifle, is that no one can be severely hurt, or killed by any shots fired from it. ...As such, that is the main 'rule' for the results of any enchantments."
no subject
"It will take me time to develop the ammunition, but I can adapt it from methods native to my Star. I'll order materials I'm familiar with, though they won't be available until the next platform. Thus it will take about three weeks from now. Would that be sufficient?"
As to the disassembled rifle, Elidibus gestures. "I'm finished. I presume a different passphrase would be needed to restore it?"
no subject
"That would be more than sufficient," she answers, before shaking her head. "The assembly phrase is the same, however."
They definitely need to ramp up the security on that.
no subject
"If you are willing, leave the weapon with me and I will see to the modifications it needs within a week." With this it's easy; the components are there, they just need to be adjusted.
There is a pause. "I will be certain to treat it with care," Elidibus finally adds.
no subject
"...Alright. ...Thank you," she adds quietly. "...It means a lot- but, that is probably clear..."
But that in itself adds to the thanks; many would, after all, take advantage of such clear importance. She can trust the other not to do that.
A Conclusion, Woo!
There would be payment discussed; in the form of either a future favor or skill put to use or the purchase of basic materials he can use for later projects- the 'small item' category being deemed appropriate for the latter.
The rifle itself will be returned, looking the same as it did; Elidibus was most careful with the aesthetic it seems. The changes are internal to the components and the enchantment that allows it to be dismantled on a key command. Now one must take time to attune to it as well as give the command and feed it energy to cause it to fall apart.
The chamber, he explains then, will be able to load one cartridge at a time. Those who cannot enchant it on the fly will have to reload when it's appropriate and if it needs to be changed back should Ayumi return, he will do so without price. The cartridges themselves will need to wait, for the concept to be created and the materials to be gained at the next platform.
And a week after that platform they are delivered; ones which can take status enchantments; 10 in total. A week after that he returns with another 10 that can take defensive and healing enchantments.
As to the enchantments themselves, A few of each type will be enchanted so Kiyoiri can test them right away. As for the rest and future, that will depend on who Kiyoiri seeks out for such favors in the future; whether it's Elidibus or another on the train capable of such feats.
